A BUSY DAY AT GORDON CHAPEL

Today was a busy day at Gordon Chapel.  We had our morning service at 10am, a Vestry Meeting at 4.30pm followed by our AGM at 5pm which was chaired by Bishop Mark.   Then we had Evensong at 6.30.

The church was decorated with lanterns and candles, a practice run for the Christingle next Sunday and the service of Nine Lessons and Carols the following Sunday.

We we delighted to have 24 people at the Evensong – this is very encouraging.  Bishop Mark joined us for Evensong and sang the liturgical music, said prayers and gave the concluding Blessing.   It was a wonderful service, a great friendly united atmosphere with friends from the Isla Deveron Group of Churches, St Mary’s and Bellie Kirk, and the Parish Room downstairs had members able to see and hear the service via the video link.   It will be wonderful when we eventually have the lift installed and we can all be united in the church together with other members of the community who cannot climb the stairs.

Our Reader (Jeff) led the service and suddenly turned into ‘John the Baptist’ to give the sermon, during which he was ‘heckled’ by members of the congregation.  For the sermon have a look at the page ‘From Priest/Reader’ and see whether “John’s” words might apply to you!!

The was the 12th monthly service of Evensong since we re-started it in Dec 15 – thank you to all who faithfully attend it and thank you for your encouragement.
