Evensong will be followed by light refreshments.

Combined Group Vestry Away Day

at St Duthac’s Centre, Arpafeelie on Saturday 1st September

Although primarily for vestry members others are welcome to come as well.

Timetable

approx. 11:00am arrive at St Duthac’s Centre with the remainder of the morning containing worship, a time of reflection led by Bishop Mark and a quiet period for personal reflection.

This will be followed by lunch (please bring your own packed lunch)

After lunch we will look at issues such as encouraging youngster into church and future plans for our combined grouping.

We end by traveling to the Cathedral for a service of Holy Communion at 5pm

To help with transport a mini bus has been hired for the day (17 seats)

Summary of Vestry Meeting 13th JUNE 2018

SUBJECT TO CONFIRMATION AT VESTRY MEETING IN AUGUST

Property and Fabric The Church House gutter had been mended, Smartwater had been ordered and applied to the gutter but still needed to be applied to the internal moveable items.

The Quinquennial Inspection had been undertaken with the major issue being the guttering. (Copies can be made available on request.)

Health and Safety Quotes for inspecting and maintaining the fire system were obtained and Christine was asked to go ahead with Moray Fire Protection.

Treasurer presented the accounts and explained that maintenance costs had been higher than normal because of the Church House gutter and the toilet in the Parish Room .

Secretary  Information had been received from Argyle Energy about energy supplies to churches. IDG uses this firm. Alan was asked to provide the information they required to give us prices.

A summer Garden Party had been suggested. Myra and Amy were asked to liaise over this.

Friends of Gordon Chapel The Coordinator of the Friends had written to the Vestry to inform them of the decision to close the group. Discussion on their funds and the future of the Draw would be left until the autumn

Fundraising The Lift off concert had been very successful. The Coffee Morning had also been well attended with a good atmosphere. The Pop Up Shop had been successful but hard work. It was agreed to try and book it again but people would have to be willing to help.

There was another coffee morning on 27th October and a concert on 23rd November.

Worship Megan Cambridge was finishing her training as a Reader. Michael was going to propose that she took some of the Reserved Sacrament services. The Speyfest service was on 29th July. Refuel was from 23rd – 28th July and volunteers were needed to help in the joint Diocesan/Church of Scotland tent which was going to showcase the work of local churches.

Lift update Plans were with Moray Council. An application for a Provincial Building Grant had been submitted and applications to AllChurches Trust and the Garfield Weston Foundation were being prepared.

Away Day  This had been booked for 1st September and a 17 seater minibus had been reserved.

Fochabers Village Association Gordon Chapel had been asked to help with the Hook a Duck stall at the Gala on 22nd July. Volunteers were needed to help with this.
