This afternoon,  Sun 7 January an Epiphany Christingle Service was held in Gordon Chapel.      This was an ecumenical service and members of all the local churches attended.

Music was provided by Amy Souter and her team of musicians with son Joseph and it was great to see Amy’s mum Juliet Stewart joining in and playing the cello.   A section of the group ‘Take Note’, led by Denise and Neil Brown sang two songs.   Here is a photograph of them performing one of the songs.

A ‘kit’ was given to everyone to make their own Christingle (Orange, candle, red tape, cocktail sticks, silver paper, sweets and fruit all in a metal container).    A demonstration of how to make a Christingle was given by Oliver and Matthew  Souter using a large water melon,  skewers and a mixture of fruit, sweets and vegetables and of course a large candle. This photograph shows them working on their ‘giant’ Christingle.

Rev Michael concluded the service with a blessing.

Late news:   The collection has been counted and comes to £262 (it is possible some more may come in).   Thank you to all who contributed so generously.
