Moira, a member of Gordon Chapel may have had too much communion wine – for she has volunteered to do yet another marathon!! Moira has competed in marathons as far apart as Paris and Aviemore and will soon be wearing out her running shoes in the Stirling Marathon.
Running over 26 miles she will set off at Blair Drummond Safari Park (the animals wont be the only rare sight that day) and the route will wind through Stirlingshire passing landmarks including Doune Castle, the National Wallace Monument and Bridge of Allan, through Stirling City Centre and finally finishing beneath the imposing ramparts of Stirling Castle.
This marathon will take place on 21 May 2017 and will include legendary runners Liz McColgan and Zola Budd – I wonder whether they will manage to keep up with our Moira!!
Moira said “ I will use this opportunity to raise money for two charities close to my heart. First the Gordon Chapel Lift which will enable those who find it difficult or impossible to climb the stairs to the chapel to use the lift and join us all together upstairs. The second is to provide a defibulator for a local community.
Moira added “I am more than a month into my training for the marathon, which includes running, specialised coaching sessions, swimming and cycling. I am a member of the Spey Runners Club and they help provide motivation and keep me ‘on track’. Less than 97 days to go until the big event – I am nervous, but it helps to know that good causes will benefit and make it all worthwhile”.

Do please be generous in your support for Moira and help to make the Stair Lift for our church and the defibulator for the community become a reality soon.
Donations may be made direct to Moira or if more convenient to Gordon Chapel labelled for Moira Middleton. Thank you.
