Tonight in Gordon Chapel we were treated to a magical miscellany of music on multiple instruments, including our own organ. The concert given by Christian Lontzek from Germany and his Swedish friend, Par Engstrant was rather special. They played European folk music including Irish and Scottish and rounded it off with Caledonia and an encore of a German Lullaby. They were highly skilled musicians who deserved the warm applause given by an appreciative audience. They promised to return next year.
Our thanks to the Gordon Chapel team who provided such a delicious half time refreshment.
The concert was held to raise funds towards Gordon Chapel Lift Fund. We have an architect now working on plans in connection with the lift – more on that soon.
Below are some photographs of the performers playing just a few of the instruments including several kinds of bagpipes.
