Remembrance Sunday 12 November 2017

Today,  Remembrance Services were held all over the country and Fochabers area played it’s part in remembering those who gave their lives in war and conflict.   Services ranged from the glorious national one at the Cenotaph in London,  the wonderful one in the Albert Hall to the simple service in our local churches and at our rural memorials.   We held services in Gordon Chapel, Bellie Kirk and St Mary’s Church Fochabers and in the Isla Deveron Group of Churches.   In Gordon Chapel we held our traditional service in the morning led by Rev Michael who then ‘dashed’ up the Hill to Keith to lead the service at Holy Trinity.   In the evening, being the 2nd Sunday in the month we held a quiet gentle Evensong which remembered those who obeyed Christ and laid down their lives for their friends, reminded us of the commandment to love one another and also commemorated Bishop Machar a North East Saint.

The country remembered like this

and like this, at the memorial in Fochabers – these, taken on a simple camera phone show :-

Fr Tad from St Mary’s Church,  Rev Morris from Bellie Kirk  and Mrs Janet Philpottt leading the Service of Remembrance at Fochabers Memorial.

Among those laying a Poppy Wreath at Fochabers Memorial were                      Angus Gordon Lennox representing Gordon Castle and Jeff Lowndes representing Gordon Chapel.
